About the service

Dynamics 365 runs on a continuous-update model (One Version): Microsoft releases updates throughout the year, and you can pause only one in a row. Updates cannot be stopped. They can be managed: either deliberately, or under the pressure of a deadline.

ANEGIS takes over this cycle: we plan the cadence around your business calendar, test changes on a UAT environment, protect customisations and integrations, and deliberately switch on valuable new features. The result: a system always current, compliant, and stable, with no downtime and no emergency, step-change modernisations.

Updates can be controlled or they can catch you out. There is no third way.

The One Version model means updates come regardless of the business calendar. Without preparation, they turn into a risk, not value.

  • Updates are mandatory. A minimum of two service updates a year, at most one can be deferred, and some fixes come in automatically.
  • The risk of regression. Every update can affect customisations, integrations, and ISV add-ons if they are not checked before they reach production.
  • Validation consumes the team. Without automation, testing each wave is a repetitive, manual effort that pulls people off their real work.
  • New features stay unused. Features and AI from each wave require deliberate activation, so without a review they do not reach the organisation.
  • Falling behind takes away control. An environment more than one version behind loses the right to pause and exposes itself to a forced update.
  • A change of management tools. Microsoft is moving environment management from Lifecycle Services to the Power Platform admin center.

Every wave under control: from a cadence plan to stable production

Plan and cadence

Update windows aligned with month-end closes and operational peaks, managing pauses, and a release calendar.

Release content review

Analysing the release plan, deprecations, and breaking changes, with a recommendation on what to test, what to enable, and what to skip.

Validation in the UAT environment

Functional and regression testing on a sandbox before production, with automation (RSAT) where it pays off.

Protecting customisations and integrations

Checking extensions and connections to systems and ISV add-ons, with fixes before deployment.

Deliberate feature activation

Turning on valuable features in Feature Management, taking the licensing impact into account.

Rollout to production

Moving it over in the chosen window, with a contingency plan and checks on critical processes after the update.

Coordinating the layers

Add-ons, Power Platform, and Dataverse update independently; we keep the whole thing consistent.

The value that mastering updates genuinely delivers

  • A system continuously current and supported. An end to the risk of falling behind the current version.
  • No critical downtime. Updates tested on UAT and deployed in a chosen window, never straight on production.
  • Protected customisations and integrations. Regression caught before deployment, not after a failure hits users.
  • Access to new capabilities and AI. Valuable features switched on deliberately, not skipped.
  • Regulatory compliance on an ongoing basis. Legal updates come in on time, in Poland including KSeF and JPK.
  • Lower cost of ownership. Continuous updates instead of step-change modernisations, and automation lowers the cost of each wave.

Products that help us drive change

We handle updates of the finance and operations applications (Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management) in the One Version model, with regression test automation (RSAT) and management in Lifecycle Services and the Power Platform admin center. We also coordinate the layers updated separately: add-ons, Power Platform, and Dataverse.

Proven performance, reliable results

  • Cadence set in advance. Windows and a pause policy set ahead of time, not under the pressure of an approaching auto-update.
  • A repeatable cycle: plan, validate, deploy. The same process at every wave, instead of firefighting.
  • Regression automation. The test library grows with the business, so each further wave costs less.
  • Stabilisation after an update. Verification of critical processes and integrations after every deployment.

Why entrust update handling to us

  • A focus exclusively on Dynamics 365. We know the finance and operations update cycle from the inside.
  • Routine instead of ad hoc actions. Cadence, tests, and deployments as a repeatable rhythm, with regression automation.
  • Protecting what is yours. Customisations, extensions, and ISV add-ons secured at every wave.
  • A presence in Poland and the UK. Polish regulatory updates (KSeF, JPK) and international environments.
  • We recover neglected environments. We bring even systems long without updates back to compliance.

Three kinds of update, each needs a different approach

In the One Version model, updates come in three layers. Telling them apart is the first thing we put in order.

Service updates

several times a year, with auto-updates in February, April, July, and October; they need a plan, UAT testing, and a decision on cadence. At least two a year are mandatory.

Release waves

twice a year, in April and October; they bring new functionality and AI and Copilot, and need a review and deliberate activation of what adds value.

Quality fixes (Proactive Quality Updates)

frequent, small security and stability fixes; they apply automatically and cannot be postponed. Here the role is quick, light validation.

Collaboration models

Updates as a continuous service, with each wave managed
A one-off bringing of the environment up to compliance (catch-up)
Support for an existing team (staff augmentation)
Optimisation as part of managed support (Customer Care)

Frequently asked questions about Dynamics 365 updates

Can we pause an update?

Yes, but only one in a row; at least two service updates a year are mandatory, and quality fixes are applied automatically. We plan the cadence so that an update does not clash with month-end close or peak periods.

What if we are badly behind on the version?

An environment that is out of compliance, more than one version behind, loses the right to pause and risks a forced update. First we bring it into compliance (a catch-up), then we set up a repeatable cycle.

Won't an update break our customisations?

Updates are backward compatible, but we test customisations, extensions, and integrations in a UAT environment before production, so we catch any regression risk before it reaches users.

Do new features turn themselves on?

No. Most new features require deliberate activation in Feature Management, and some affect licensing. We review each release and enable what genuinely adds value.

What manages updates: Lifecycle Services or the Power Platform admin center?

Microsoft is moving environment management to the Power Platform admin center; from February 2026 new customers no longer create projects in Lifecycle Services. We guide you through both tools.
