Analytics and reporting on Dynamics 365 data, with answers in natural language

Let's talk about implementation
Discover the possibilities and value
Trusted by:

Data is everywhere, but reliable answers are missing, because everyone counts their own way

Organisations are drowning in data, but decisions still rest on spreadsheets and conflicting reports. Without a shared model and governance, even a good tool does not give trusted answers.

  • Reports in spreadsheets and scattered. Data exported to Excel diverges from the system and between departments.
  • Everyone counts their own way. Without shared KPI definitions, the same indicators mean different things in different teams.
  • Decisions on historical data. Reports prepared by hand are created with a delay.
  • Analytics detached from the source. Data copied to separate tools loses currency and context.
  • Data access reserved for analysts. Without self-service, the business waits for a report instead of asking about data itself.
  • AI switched on without preparing the data. Copilot on an unstructured model returns wrong or misleading answers.

One analytics platform: from the data model to an answer in natural language

Power BI is Microsoft's analytics and reporting platform: reports and dashboards, data models (semantic models), and self-service and enterprise analytics on one platform. It runs on data from Dynamics 365 and from the OneLake lake in Microsoft Fabric, including Direct Lake mode, which reads data straight from OneLake without copying, and Copilot and data agents let you ask about data in natural language. The foundation of reliability is a well-designed semantic model and governance.

The value comes down to three outcomes:

  • One trusted source of indicators, that is, shared KPI definitions.
  • Decisions on current data, instead of on spreadsheets.
  • Self-service access to data, including through questions in natural language.

This is what sets a managed analytics platform apart from scattered reports in Excel.

What Power BI delivers, in terms of value

Reports and dashboards

Interactive reports, dashboards, and paginated reports, available in the browser, on mobile devices, and embedded in apps.

Value:

One clear view of the metrics for the whole organisation.

Data models (semantic models)

A shared model with relationships and DAX measures, and certified models as a single source of truth for KPIs.

Value:

Consistent metric definitions and an end to everyone calculating their own way.

Data connectivity modes

Import, DirectQuery, and Direct Lake, that is, reading straight from OneLake, with performance close to import and no refresh.

Value:

Current data without costly refreshes and duplication.

Self-service and enterprise analytics

Report building by analysts and the business, plus a managed, enterprise analytics deployment.

Value:

Faster access to answers without an IT bottleneck.

Copilot and natural-language questions

Copilot summarises reports, answers questions about data, generates reports, visuals, and measures, and supports model building.

Value:

Faster creation and access to answers without knowing the tool.

Data agents and analytics in the workflow

Data agents (Fabric data agents) answer natural-language questions on semantic models, with permissions respected.

Value:

A conversation with data where the work happens, on trusted models.

Who Power BI is for and what decides its value

For organisations that want to make decisions on trusted data: from management and financial reporting, linked to Dynamics 365 Finance, through operations, to analytics across the whole group. The value, though, is decided not by the tool itself, but by the data model and governance. Copilot and agents are only as good as the semantic model underneath, which is why we start with putting the data and KPI definitions in order.

Products that help us drive change

We don't just deploy standalone applications; we implement a cohesive suite of Microsoft solutions - from Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform to advanced analytics and AI - tailored to your specific goals. Everything runs on a unified data foundation, meaning information entered once works across your entire organization, while AI supports your processes exactly where the work happens.

What Power BI delivers

  • One trusted source of indicators. Shared KPI definitions make every team count the same way.
  • Decisions on current data. Reports are created in the system, not in manually assembled spreadsheets.
  • Self-service access to data. The business asks about data directly, including in natural language, instead of waiting for a report.
  • Current data without costly refreshes. Direct Lake reads it straight from OneLake, without an import cycle.
  • AI that gives reliable answers. Copilot and agents work on a structured model and under governance control.
  • Lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and a shorter time to go-live. One analytics platform, plus models and governance from ANEGIS, shorten the path to operation.

Why entrust the Power BI implementation to us

  • We specialise in Dynamics 365. We build analytics on ERP data, which we know from the inside.
  • Model and governance before AI. We design certified semantic models and KPI definitions so that Copilot and agents give accurate answers.
  • Analytics linked to Fabric and OneLake. Direct Lake reads Dynamics 365 data straight, without duplication.
  • We work in Poland and the United Kingdom. We run local implementations and rollouts spanning multiple countries.
  • Proven project delivery, all the way to project recovery. We implement using a methodology based on Success by Design, with risk control, and if needed we take over and recover at-risk projects (project recovery).

FAQs

How does Power BI differ from Microsoft Fabric?

Power BI is the analytics and reporting layer, and Microsoft Fabric is the data foundation: the OneLake data lake and data engineering. Power BI runs on data from Fabric and from Dynamics 365. Both have their own pages.

Does Copilot in Power BI just work?

It works well on a well-organised, certified semantic model and with governance in place. On an unprepared model it returns wrong answers. That is why we start with the model and the KPI definitions.

Do you have to copy data from Dynamics 365 into reports?

Not necessarily. In Direct Lake mode, Power BI reads data straight from OneLake, fed from Dynamics 365 through Link to Fabric, with no copying and no refresh cycles.

What are data agents?

They answer questions about data conversationally, in natural language, based on semantic models and other sources, while respecting permissions. They can be embedded in Copilot Studio and Microsoft Teams.

Where do you start with Microsoft Power BI?

By organising the data and defining KPIs and designing the model (see: the ‚AI, data and analytics” area and Integrations and data), and only then by building reports and Copilot.
